Anticipation — Interior States

In Anticipation, I explore the particular energy of waiting for something good—the internal shift that happens when possibility begins to feel almost tangible. Warm peach, vibrant tangerine, blush pink and cherry red create a sense of heat and movement, while the architectural perspective draws the eye toward a luminous, gestural center.

Although Anticipation shares the warm palette of Unrequited, the emotional state feels entirely different to me. Where Unrequited holds the tension of desire and longing, Anticipation feels open, joyful and expectant. The color seems to move outward from within, carrying the excitement of something not yet experienced but already beginning to be felt.

As part of my Interior States collection, this contemporary abstract painting continues my exploration of color, architectural perspective and psychological space. I use the illusion of a room or passage as a way of drawing the viewer inward, but the destination is emotional rather than physical. In Anticipation, that interior is filled with warmth, optimism and possibility.

For me, Anticipation is about the joy that can exist before the moment itself—the inner spark of knowing something is about to begin.
