Surrender — Interior States

In Surrender, I explore the peace that can come from releasing our need to control what happens next. For me, this painting is deeply personal. It reflects a point in my own life when I began to understand surrender not as weakness or resignation, but as an act of trust—choosing to give my anxiety, uncertainty and constant need for control to Christ and trust in His plan for me.
I use cobalt blue, lilac and softened lavender-blue tones to create a space that feels quiet and expansive. Repeated architectural frames lead the eye steadily inward, while the center becomes increasingly atmospheric and undefined. There is still depth and mystery, but I no longer feel the need for the painting to provide an answer at the end of that passage. That absence of certainty is part of its meaning.
Within my Interior States collection, architectural perspective often becomes a way of exploring the interior self. The viewer is drawn through layers of color toward something that cannot quite be reached or completely understood. In Surrender, that journey becomes an expression of faith, release and trust. The structure remains, but control begins to dissolve.
For me, Surrender represents the quiet that arrived when I stopped believing I needed to know exactly where the path was leading. It is the peace of moving forward without seeing the destination, trusting that I am being led.
