The Son

8" x 10"

Radiant and deeply tactile, The Son uses abstraction, texture, and luminous gold to explore the sacred presence of Christ through the symbolism of the Holy Eucharist.

At the center of the composition, a glowing circular form evokes both the sun and the consecrated Host—a source of light emerging from a richly worked surface. Gold catches and releases light across the painting, allowing its appearance to shift with the viewer’s position and reinforcing the sense of something illuminated from within.

The title rests intentionally between sun and Son. While the imagery recalls the warmth and radiance of the natural sun, The Son ultimately points toward Christ and the mystery of His presence in the Eucharist. The physicality of the mixed-media surface further echoes this idea of the spiritual made tangible—something unseen given material presence.

Both contemplative and powerful, The Son is a meditation on light, sacrifice, presence, and faith.
